Because I'd Like To Make A Random Point

Hello. We missed you.

Strangely, it amuses us to actually miss you these days. We've been busy with a lot of things -- yeah, like we all used to say, priorities just keep getting in the way. But this infrequency is a scary thing. It's something that we never intended to happen. It shouldn't exist because it will bring us to the idea of forgetting. It's a thought that we've continuously avoided, pushed at the back of our minds, and treated with utmost contempt. I don't understand why we do that, but we figured it's the only way we could keep you with us. And now, with this idea of forgetting you staring us right in the face, we can't help but wonder if you're slowly slipping away.

I know you wouldn't be happy with us trying hard not to forget you. It's a stupid idea. I know you want us to move on and just forget. And if you could just turn it all back, you would choose not to appear in our lives just to retract the pain and confusion you've caused. But that would be impossible. We will never be the strangers that you could just disengage and undo. It was written, and erasing it may seem like a good plan but it wouldn't happen. It's too late to change things, unfortunate as it is.

We missed you. Maybe qualifying and concretizing the thought will cause it to burst and disappear. And it may do us good because sometimes missing you becomes exhausting, it wears us down. Sometimes, missing you becomes a painful and tedious process and it brings back the happy days that you unintentionally took away from us.

But today is an exception. Today, like the afternoon breeze that slowly washes away the withered bits of our souls, we welcome the idea of missing you. We missed missing you, my friend. You took away with you the happy days and a big portion of our hearts when you went away but we're looking forward to that day you'll hand them back to us.

You just took the first flight and someday, we will meet again and bask under the sun, laze around some white beach, and wait for another sunset.

Love,
Us
